Sun City, AZ - Delores Mary "Dolly" Moon (Pleickhardt), age 73, passed away on June 5, 2025, in Sun City, Arizona from a nearly year long battle with lung cancer. Born on November 6, 1951, in Brooklyn, New York, Dolly lived a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family and faith.
Raised in a Catholic household, Dolly maintained a strong relationship with God throughout her life. Her early years were spent in New York, where she graduated from Cobleskill High School as part of the Class of 1969. She later pursued further education at Glendale Community College, Glendale AZ, continuing her lifelong commitment to learning and personal growth.
Dolly's professional journey was marked by dedication and service. She was very proud to have worked as a Code Enforcement Officer for the City of Peoria for many years and served as a secretary and notary for various organizations over the years. Her work ethic and attention to detail left a lasting impression on colleagues and community members alike.
Family was at the heart of everything Dolly did. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Arlene (Mike) Englebright of Arlington, Washington; her son William (Cindy) Probst of Phoenix, Arizona; and her cherished grandchildren: Tabitha (Andrew) Squires of Tacoma, Washington; Aaron Englebright of Camano Island, Washington; Kathleen "Kali" (Jeremy) Lunt of Phoenix; Gunner Howell of Phoenix; Connor Probst of Utah; and Jenika Probst of Phoenix. She will also be missed by her great-grandchildren: Willow Englebright, Nathan Squires, and Finn Englebright, all of Washington as well as her first husband William H. Probst of Phoenix. Her siblings Janice (Bill) Hopster of Anchorage, Alaska; Michael Pleickhardt of Florida; and Robert Pleickhardt of Phoenix also mourn her passing.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Delores Pleickhardt (Warwick) and siblings Joseph Pleickhardt, Jonathan Pleickhardt, Kenneth Pleickhardt, and Virginia Lauriault. She was also preceded in death by two additional ex-husbands Samuel Slamka and Paul Moon.
Dolly had a vibrant spirit that lit up every room she entered. She was always "sparkly," and had an infectious love for life that was evident in everything she did—from collecting jewelry to embracing her favorite color pink. She also loved her McDonald's French Vanilla Iced Coffee's and would request one whenever she could. Christmas held a special place in her heart; she began shopping for the holiday as early as June each year to ensure it was magical for everyone around her, and started counting down to next Christmas as soon as the day was over.
Traveling brought Dolly great joy—especially trips to Washington and New York to visit family and friends who meant the world to her. She cultivated deep bonds not only with relatives but also with friends who became like family over the years; Mary Sieder, Bill Parks and Blanca Glass to name a few. Her beloved dog Paws Moon was a constant companion who brought comfort and happiness into her daily life.
Dolly's legacy is one of warmth, generosity, and enduring love. She will be deeply missed by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors—and all those fortunate enough to have known her. Once you were family, you are always family in Dolly's book.
